Bacon Wrapped Figs or Dates

Share Your Story: What is Your Favorite, Easy Party Recipe?

By JCchef

How did you come up with this dish?

I stole it from a friend.

What is your favorite, easy party recipe?

Bacon-wrapped figs or bacon-wrapped dates. Both are delicious. The dates are bit more caramel-like, the figs are chewier.

Tell us how to prepare your easy recipe.

Preheat the oven to 350.

Spread some aluminum foil on a cookie sheet.

Take a package of bacon (or as much as you want to use - but be warned they go fast) and cut it in half.

Wrap each half strip around the date or fig, and spear it with a toothpick.

Lay them on the cookie sheet.

Bake for 20 minutes or until the fat cooks off.

Serve hot.

Tips and Tricks

  • You can turn the dates/figs halfway through to cook evenly on both sides.
  • Using the aluminum foil makes clean up easy. Just crumple it up and throw it away.
  • Some people stuff the figs with almonds or blue cheese or both. Sounds good, but it's not necessary. These are delicious as is.

Sounds great - I love the sweet and salty combination.
