Country and Region of Origin: Denmark

Type of Cheese: A very pale yellow, cow's milk cheese that is a derivative of the Italian original.

Texture: Semi-firm but creamy

Rind: Waxy and red

Tasting Notes: The Danish version of Fontina has a distinctive, pungent odor. The flavor is mild, almost sweet, slightly nutty and very creamy.

Wine Pairing: Pair with a light white or red wine.

Serving Suggestions: Danish Fontina goes well with crackers on a cheese board. It also makes an excellent addition to sandwiches or cooked recipes such as macaroni and cheese because it melts so well.
