Tip of the Week

Look here each Monday for a new tip to make entertaining a snap.

This week's tip was submitted by Tammy Mitchell.

Vrooooom, vrooooom...

I had a Race car/Hot Wheels party for my son's 4th birthday. Here's how:

I had made two cakes because we had a large crowd.  One cake was a Wilton shaped pan of a race car with a checkered flag behind it.  The other cake was a large horseshoe pan (also Wilton) decorated like a race track with bamboo skewers made into flags around the edges. Wilton also has race car candles that have two race cars, a trophy, and a checkered flag.  I wrote start and finish at each end of the cake and put the race cars on it with the trophy and checkered flag at the finish line.  The cake was frosted white w/black and white alternating stars for a border.  You can put a trail of smoke with frosting behind the race cars to look more realistic.  Everyone loved the cakes.

Favor bags were clear cellophane with a Hot Wheels race car inside along with some candy and tied with black and white curling ribbon and a small checkered flag tied into the curling ribbon.  I also bought a race car piñata at the party store.

If you have a tip you'd like to share, you can now use our simple submission form. If selected, I will post it with your name in future weeks.

Thanks Tammy!
