Halloween Glow-in-the-Dark Spooktacular
This week's tip was submitted by Lee Anne.
The key to this glow-in-the dark party is to have a separate room (basement,
family room) that has a door that closes. You will NOT want the guests to enter
this room until you are READY!! Cover windows with black paper if the party is
during daylight hours.
Set your table using the Halloween themed party goods you have selected. For
napkin rings, use Glow-In-The Dark Alien Key Chains which will double as party
favors. Next, to add a slimy, glowing effect to your table, you can use
Glow-In-The Dark Worms. Arrange the worms so some are spilled out, hanging out,
etc. Arrange a candelabra using Glow-In-The-Dark sidewalk chalks. Insert the
chalk sticks into candle holders or votive cups.
To create a spooky entry way, hang a jointed skeleton cutout over the door. Hang
plastic spiders from the ceiling (hung from a slow-moving ceiling fan, they make
great shadows, too). If your party is in the evening, you can arrange spooky
luminaries to lead your guests to the front door.
If you carved Jack-O-Lanterns, have them illuminated. To put a
"crawling" effect, glue the plastic spiders all over the pumpkins.
If you have a side table to decorate, use a black tablecloth with pumpkin
confetti sprinkled on it. Mini hay bales will also add to the table decorations.
Cover with plastic spiders.
Okay....you MUST leave the lights on until you are ready for the guests! This
enables all glow-in-the dark products to get enough light to illuminate. When
you are ready, turn off the lights and bring your guests into this spooktacular,
glow-in-the dark room!!! Watch the amazement on their faces!! Once the
lights come back on they will see all of the fantastic decorations!
When the guests leave they can take home party favors that you have used as
table decorations such as a Halloween plastic cup filled with candy and a
balloon, a skeleton ring, glow-in-the dark sidewalk chalk, a glow-in-the dark
key chain, or a container of glow-in-the dark worms and...most importantly...a
memory for a lifetime!!
Remember, you can use most of the decorations again next year!!
