From the article: Top 10 Reasons to Entertain
I think it's safe to assume that readers of this site like to throw parties and entertain. However, we all know friends and family members who never take on the challenge of hosting a party. After all, entertaining requires time and money, both of which seem to be in short supply these days. So why do you love to entertain and what are the benefits of throwing a party that you would point out to a reluctant host or hostess? Share Your Reasons

Why I love to entertain

I was a professional restaurant chef in my earlier career, so I have an inate sense of how to create the food and ambience that brings the comfort & sociability out of my guests and it gives me great pleasure to be a part of these events. As a professional I could not join the fun, now I can do.

The fuzzy feeling

I'm 14 and I would call myself the party man in my school. I always like to have people come up to me after my party and say what a great time they had, especially if they met someone there.

fun....

For fun and love and safety, there's a host of reasons, really. Plus, if we are having a big bash, usually once or twice a year, we get a lot of extra cleaning done and handiwork we'd otherwise put off. But for the bashes that aren't big, we love making different foods and recipes (should read me, not we) and/or playing different games/cards or watching a game on the tube. And let's face it, going out can get expensive and it's not as much fun.

Open Heart Open Home

I love to have guests for dinner or spending the night. Each time is an opportunity for good conversation, sharing and it gives me a chance to use the gifts I have been given. It is one of the most rewarding things I do. To give an old friend or new one a place of refuge from this stressful world we live in is the best gift we can give them. Each successful visit gives you confidence to open your home the next time the occasion arises.

Party Planning

I think it is always good to have someone to organize a party for, since we are all gifted in our own different ways.

Popularity

Keeps people close around - keeps you energetic and creative and adds laughter and fun to your life. In return, you get lots of invites and a reputation for being a fun loving person.

it just feels good to host a great party

It IS a lot of work, but when the food's out, the music's on, all the guests have their drink and laughter and conversation fill the air....THAT's the reward.

pride and guilt

To show off, ie: new furniture or an addition to the home (and use that often un-used fancy china you received as a wedding gift); or out of a feeling of responsibility to repay other host's social invitations. Also a good reason to get together with family and friends.

Fun and Affordable

Having people over is an inexpensive way to share a meal with friends. If I do the cooking, assuming it's nothing fancy, we can feed our guests for about $5 per person or less. If we went out to a restaurant, we'd pay $20 per person for a similar meal. If you don't have the time or money to cook for all of your guests, have a potluck. Or just have people over for dessert and coffee. Also, I used to worry about how cluttered and messy our house is, and I still clean the house before guests come over. But I don't let the clutter stop us from entertaining. If I did, we'd never have people over.

For the fun of it!

I love when me and all my friends come together because we always have a good time and make lots of memories.
