You can simply sit back and marvel at the over-the-top parties and plot how to win an invitation to one of their next events. After all, who wouldn't want to walk away from a glamorous poker party with a gift bag filled with spa products, poker dvds, poker chips, Corzo Tequila, Grey Goose Vodka shaker and poker-themed cards from Cartier?
But if you spend all of your time just oggling over these parties, you'll miss the real value in this book. What these authors do best is illustrate how you can take a theme, any theme, and tie together all of the elements of the party for the most dramatic effect. In their "Steal It!" sidebars they give lots of practical suggestions for non-A-list folks like ourselves on hosting similar types of events. So ignore the glitz and focus in on the nitty gritty details so that you will be fighting off requests for invitations to your future parties.
