Ti Adelaide Martin and Lally Brennan are first cousins from the famous Brennan family of New Orleans. One could say they were born with cocktails in their blood, garnished by years of living in a cocktails culture. They know their drinks, and they understand the details that take cocktails past the level of beverage and into the land of experience. They teach us the history of the drinks through stores about their friends, relatives, and fellow cocktail afficionados. As proprietors of Commander's Palace, Cafe Adelaide and the Swizzle Stick Bar inthe Loews New Orleans Hotel, they continue to live the life, and impart the sense of joie de vivre that imbues their daily interactions with customers. After reading this book (and you will want to read it, not just use it as a reference), you will appreciate the nuances that go into making a cocktail special. It will make you wish you could hop onto a plane and join the patrons sitting at the famous New Orleans bars.
