If you enjoy cooking and entertaining like I do, it's likely that you have an extensive collection of old cooking magazines that you can't bear to part with. The problem is that when you need to locate a recipe you've made before, it's tough to find it in that dusty collection. I've devised a two step process that makes it much simpler for me to access favorite recipes, that doesn't require cutting up the pages.
First, I separate my magazines by title and save them in chronological date order. I use those cardboard magazine boxes that can be found in office supply stores or other general-purpose stores.
Second, I keep a notebook in my kitchen that is divided into basic categories such as appetizers, entrees, soups, breads, desserts, etc. Each time I cook a recipe that turns out successfully and tasty, I will list the recipe name, the magazine name, and the magazine date under the appropriate category.
Then, whether I'm trying to look up a specific recipe, or want a sure-fire recipe to cook for guests, I can simply flip through my notebook instead of digging through the old issues.
