Specialty Sauces and Dressings that You Won't Want to Miss

These Will Make Entertaining Easier

As always, I found at this year's Fancy Food Show a large selection of products that make entertaining easier and that taste so good and fresh, guests will never believe you didn't make them yourself. Here are a few sauces and dressings that stand out among the best I tasted at the show.

Vino de Milo Gourmet Sauces - I hate to admit it, but these delicious, all-natural, wine-based sauces are as good as anything that can be prepared fresh in my kitchen. The flavors are true to the cuisines upon which they are based, with a great balance of spices and other related ingredients. I wouldn't feel the need to apologize for using a shortcut. You can serve them over meats or pasta. They come in a broad range of flavors including North African Pinot Noir (regular and spicy), Bombay Cabernet, Mediterranean Pinot Grigio, Portobello Shiraz, and Tuscan Merlot. The company also sells the sauces in gift packs, dinner kits, and with a few pieces of "artistic expressions" as they call it, related to the artful packaging of their products. All would make great hostess gifts, would be terrific to serve to guests, or for treating yourself and family.

Wildly Delicious Fruit Salad Dressings - Wildly Delicious Fine Foods company offers a broad range of foods suitable for entertaining such as infused oils and tapenades, but I was especially impressed by their fruit salad dressings. The poor fruit salad has always been so underdressed, it's about time someone designed a proper dressing for it. They offer both a Mandarin & Ginger dressing and a Raspberry & Lemongrass dressing. The dressings are just sweet enough to dress up a fresh fruit salad.

Bear Pond Farm Pestos - Sometimes, as much as I like the flavorful convenience of prepared pestos for adding zest to a dish, the pesto come across as a little too heavy and not as fresh as I would like. However, I found Bear Pond Farm Pestos were fresh, flavorful, bright and just the right texture. This company makes their pestos from fresh herbs, they're nut free, low carb and lower sodium than most prepared pestos. The flavors offered are basil, lemon, cilantro, arugula and onion-garlic.
