Getting an RSVP Should Be the Host's Responsibility

The Host Should Take Charge for an Accurate Head Count

By , About.com Guide

This tip was submitted by Ryan Atkin.

As a professional concierge host for many events and venues throughout Miami Beach, I make sure my clients and/or guests are attending. Instead of waiting for these clients/guests to RSVP, I have found that calling or emailing after the initial invitation has gone out works best for an accurate head count. In this day and age, most people are so busy, it's easy to forget about a special event and/or occasion. I continue to touch base with my invitation list approximately 1 week before the scheduled event. This is to ensure that the already confirmed guests are still coming. I truly believe it is the host's duty to ensure a proper head count so that no surprising issues arise at the event.

Thanks for the tip Ryan!
