A Neighborhood Soup Party

An Easy Way to Stay in Touch with Your Neighbors

By , About.com Guide

This week's tip was submitted by Linda.

I have been hosting a soup party for 12 years, going on 13 in a week. We have it in the fall, and invite all the neighbors. It is a great way to keep in touch with the neighbors, and has grown over the years. We start the soup from stock, with chicken or beef and ask the neighbors to bring their favorite ingredients and their own beverages. We supply the bread and pies. We have roasted corn on the cob over an open fire. Over the years people started bringing their own pies, other dishes to pass around, and their favorite drinks, blenders and all.

It is a great way to keep in touch with our neighbors although the neighborhood has grown to a five mile radius. Everyone loves the theme, we don't have to spend a lot of money, no one needs to drive home because most people can walk, and we have a good time.

Thanks for the tip Linda!
