Chocolate Covered Pretzels

Chocolate Dipped Pretzels

These are so easy to make, and will be quickly gobbled up. Choose your favorite additional topping, or choose several and make a varied assortment.

Prep Time: 30 minutes

Cook Time: 2 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 12 ounces chocolate chips, any variety
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable shortening
  • 20 old-time style (thick, not thin) pretzel twists
  • Optional: 1 cup toppings such as M&M's, miniature gummy bears, chopped nuts, etc.

Preparation:

Line two large cookie sheets with waxed paper.

Combine chocolate chips and vegetable shortening in microwave safe bowl. Microwave at 70 percent power for 2 minutes. Stir until smooth. Continue microwaving and stirring for additional 15 seconds each time until completely smooth.

Using a fork, dip each pretzel into chocolate mixture and gently tap off excess. Place on cookie sheet. Sprinkle on topping. Leave undisturbed until completely set. Refrigerate, if necessary, to completely set the chocolate.
