Princess Aurora Birthday Cake

Laurie Senio
I made this cake for my daughter's 4th birthday which was a princess ball at the dance studio she attends. She loves Princess Aurora from Sleeping Beauty so I bought characters online. I then used paper towel holders, ice cream cones, and white fondant to make the turrets (Hint: use shortening on the tubes before fondant or it won't stick). I used a toothpick to create a random stone pattern to the turrets. Sparkle dust gave the ice cream cone turret tops the periwinkle glimmer. The cake was a basic yellow cake with raspberry filling. I used wooden dowels and cake divider between the two tiers. It took some time but was pretty easy to make and sturdy enough to transport in the car. I saved the turrets and will be using them for my younger daughter who wants a Cinderella party.
