Lego Birthday Cake

Tiffani Fooshee
This cake was created for my son's 1st birthday. There wasn't really a theme, just lots of bright colors, so I figured that this Lego cake would be perfect. I used two boxes of cake mix and filled three loaf pans 1/4 of the way. I also made one cupcake for the birthday boy! They were baked according to package directions. After cooled, I shaved the rounded tops off and turned them over so they would lay flat. We didn't need as much cake as the two mixes made, so I only used four loaves and froze the other two for later. They were each frosted in their own bright color and topped with frosted vanilla wafers. The two on bottom only need four wafers since the top "lego" covers half of each loaf. I frosted the cupcake and used it as the candle holder. I used a clear cutting board as the backer and wrote on it in white icing sprinkled with orange sugar. The blue table cloth showed through the cutting board for that extra touch! It was quite a hit!
