I made this golf cake for my son, Bryan's, third birthday. He loves to hit golf balls and frequents the driving range with his grandfather. I had difficulty finding golf cake items at the last moment. Could not even find items in the retirement party section. The golfer on the cake is a hand-painted, glass wine stopper. Wrapped the cork in foil and inserted in cake. I mixed Betty Crocker vanilla icing with Wilton icing and dyed the icing different shades of green for the fairway and the grass. Used the Wilton #233 for the grass and circle design on the sides. Used blue dye for the lake. Used crushed vanillas wafers for the sand traps. Made template for traps, tee box, green, and lake. Fun to make but took about 2 hours!
