The butterflies are gum paste that I painted with food coloring that were thinned for pastel shade. I bought the roses from a local baker. Each cake was on cardboard cut to fit the layer (except the base). Dowels were used for support. I iced them individually before stacking them, then added a border at each seam. Then I put the roses on in groups of 3. Adding the butterflies when setting up.
The base was made of a flat, circle floral foam ring. I used silk flowers that matched the party colors. I set the cake directly on the foam ring, however it could also be set on a cake plate with the ring around the base.
