A Springtime Kite Flying Picnic

Kite at the Beach

Donna Pilato
The weather is warming up, you've got time on your hands, and the breezes beckon you outside. Grab that nearly forgotten old kite, and head out for a day at the beach or the park where you can watch it reclaim those clear blue skies. Before you go, pack a hearty picnic, because when it comes to watching your kite perform its acrobatics, it's easy to lose track of time.

Before you head out, pack the necessities for a picnic. Better yet, keep the basic supplies for setting up a picnic always ready in the trunk of your car so you can hit the road when the impulse strikes.

Menu for a Springtime Kite Flying Picnic

Raspberry Iced Tea

- Bring along a large, cold thermos of this refreshing, sweet tea.

Chicken Waldorf Sandwiches - These sandwiches can be made up to two days in advance so that you can be ready when the winds are right.

Creole Macaroni Salad - This is a zesty twist on the classic macaroni salad.

Strawberry Ricotta Muffins - These will add a sweet touch to your menu, but will travel well. Make these when you have an abundance of sweet berries and freeze them to have on hand when you plan an outing.
