Casual Fridays, netiquette, cell phones, PDA's...less than twenty years ago these features of modern life did not exist for the average person. So as quickly as these and other realities of modern life have entered our communal consciousness, we have had to fumble our way toward creating new rules of etiquette that take these into account.

Not only are we dealing with questions about the proper clothing to wear on Casual Friday and when and where it's appropriate to make cell phone calls, but we frequently encounter tricky issues such as who pays for dinner when it's obvious the woman has a better job.

Luckily there are brave individuals who have created road maps for navigating relationships under these new circumstances. They seek to remind us that although our lives may appear to be more casual as technology races us through our days, we can't forget to be considerate of others.

With a casual voice that befits our 21st century attitude, both Things You Need to Be Told by the Etiquette Grrls, and 21st Century Etiquette by Charlotte Ford discuss the issues that confront society today. Sharing witty observations and no-holds-barred opinions these authors fearlessly dispense common sense advice that can benefit us all.
