It will come as no surprise to anyone who knows me that I confess to being a bit obsessed with chocolate. And so the news that chocolate provides health benefits was a welcome support for my obsession. The level of antioxidants in good quality, dark chocolate has been found to be a powerful disease fighter. Experts now go as far as to recommend eating an ounce of good quality chocolate as part of a healthy diet. Finally, I can tell those critics that question my obsession that I always knew chocolate was as good for my body as it is for my soul. Just in case you find yourself short on ideas for how to fulfill this newly recommended daily allowance, I worked hard to hunt down the best recipes for some of my favorite chocolate treats. It was a tough job, but somebody had to do it! Truffles top my list of favorite ways to enjoy chocolate. These confections slowly melt on the tongue while releasing their varied nuances of rich, creamy flavor. Fortunately, for those on limited budgets who can't afford the high-priced truffles you can find in stores, they are very easy to make at home. Chocolate fondue is another simple way to get your daily dose of this obsession. As long as you make sure to heat your mixture slowly, you won't find a much easier dessert. And since chocolate pairs so well with fruit, you can feel proud of your healthy entertaining when you lay out an attractive platter of fresh fruit to dip into your fondue. Young and old love chocolate fondue so you won't go wrong no matter whom you serve. Serve one or more of these chocolate treats for dessert the next time you entertain, and you'll be sure to earn a reputation as a health conscious host!
