Guide Review - Meze by Diane Kochilas

Author Diane Kochilas is clearly passionate about Greek cuisine and in this cookbook takes us on a tour of dishes that define it way beyond the familiar moussaka and souvlaki. With many creative and unusual recipes, Kochilas illustrates the versatility of Greek flavors. As Kochilas explains in the narrative, mezes are intended to be sociable bites shared among friends with drinks and lots of conversation, but mezes are not intended to be heavy, complete meals. However, for the home cook, the portion sizes can be adjusted to turn many of these recipes into a delightful main course, anyway. All of the recipes I tested were flavorful, satisfying, simple-to-follow, and made me feel like I could pose as a native Greek chef.
