Tip of the Week

Look here each Monday for a new tip to make entertaining a snap

There's Nothing Like a Well-Timed Video

When your entertaining includes a mixed group of adults and children, you need to keep a few tricks in reserve. When the children first arrive let them play with one another, snack with the grownups, and explore your home and yard. Do not even suggest that they watch a video at this point.

But once the kids get out of control or bored, or when the adults are ready to sit down to a meal that is not kid-friendly, then it's time to pull out the videos. Set the kids up in a comfortable room with a few snacks of their own, within earshot of the parents if the children are young. That way you can count on the activity level and need for supervision to be minimized when you're ready to enjoy a little adult-only time.

However, if the videos are taken out too soon, the kids will become bored with the videos just when the adults are ready to be seated!

If you have a tip you'd like to share, you can now use our simple submission form. If selected, I will post it with your name in future weeks.
