Tip of the Week

Look here each Monday for a new tip to make entertaining a snap!

Strictly Homemade (Kind of!)

There are many of us who are compelled to serve only homemade food and goodies when entertaining. But with the busy lives we all lead, that usually means staying up into the wee hours preparing for guests.

So I challenge those of you who fall into this category (like me), to try this short-cut the next time you entertain. Prepare all the food yourself, but use some packaged ingredients to save time. Then you will have the satisfaction of knowing you cooked everything for your guests, and will still be rested enough to enjoy your company!

For recipe ideas on how to do this, visit the web sites of food companies such as Pillsbury, Betty Crocker and others. Links can be found under Recipes and Menu Planning.

If you have a tip you'd like to share, email your Guide at entertaining.guide@about.com. If selected, I will post it with your name in future weeks.
