Tip of the Week
Look here each Monday for a new tip to make entertaining a snap.
This week's tip was submitted by Marlene Allan of Garden Party Online.
Tricks with Table Cloths
It's very easy to scallop the edge of tablecloths. Purchase very thin, clear, nylon fishing line available inexpensively at your local craft store. Use it to sew a loop that starts 6" or so below the tabletop line extending down to include the hem. Tie it off on the hidden back side of the tablecloth. Then whipstitch any embellishment you like over the gathers. The picture I have shown here used a silk curtain tassel, but a long stranded bow, a length of silk flower garland, or most anything would add punch without ruining the tablecloth.

The same trick would work on square tablecloth corners. Wrap a few inches of fishing line around the corner, tie off behind the tablecloth where it doesn't show, then pop on the embellishment to cover the fishing line.
If you have a tip you'd like to share, you can now use our simple submission form. If selected, I will post it with your name in future weeks.
Thanks Marlene!
