One of the unfortunate side effects of using candles is that some of the prettiest ones have a nasty habit of dripping. If you find yourself stuck with trying to clean wax from your table cloth after a dinner party, follow these steps to remove that pesky wax.

  • Rub ice on the wax to harden.
  • Scrape off as much as you can with a dull knife.
  • Place clean paper towels on each side of the residual wax stain and press with a warm iron.
  • Continue to replace the paper towels as long as the wax continues to transfer to the towels.
  • Next, place the stain face down on new paper towels and sponge with a pre-wash stain remover or dry cleaning solvent.
  • Blot excess stain remover with paper towel then allow to dry.
  • Finally, launder.
  • If any stain remains, wash again with a bleach that is safe for your fabric.
