There are few things less appealing than a monochrome assortment of food items on your dinner plate. I'm guilty of treating my family to this type of dinner. I rush to get dinner on the table, and then too late I realize the effect of serving chicken, cauliflower and mashed potatoes on the same plate. Separately they are fine food choices, but together they make a very boring, unappetizing picture.

Therefore, as you plan your menus, always keep an artistic eye on your selections. Serve cauliflower with steak and pureed sweet potatoes. Or accompany chicken with green beans and a tomato salad. Then your dinners will appeal to the eye as well as the stomach.
