Tip of the Week
Look here each Monday for a new tip to make entertaining a snap.
Double Your Estimate
A funny thing happens when you're in the home stretch of party preparations, and guests are due within an hour or two. The few little things you've left for the last minute take twice as long to accomplish.
Perhaps Einstein could apply his theory of relativity to this strange time phenomenon that always occurs pre-party. But since he's not around to explain it, I'll give it a try.
First, there are the last minute phone calls from guests that need to let you know they'll be arriving later or leaving early. There are the helpful friends checking in to see how things are progressing and the solicitors that have no clue that you're scurrying to finalize a party.
How about the bag of pretzels you accidentally spill on the floor that need to be cleaned up? The ice maker you were counting on for fresh ice, that has become jammed and needs to be repaired?
Since there is no possible way to guess the possible mishaps and interruptions, my advice is to double the time you estimate will be required at the end. That way you'll be prepared for any last minute surprises that interrupt your party preparations.
