Why Do You Entertain?

There are those of us who accept the challenge to host an event or throw a party whenever the opportunity presents itself. And yet there are people in our circles (names won't be named!) who never send out an invitation, or whose homes you haven't stepped inside since shag carpet was popular. So what reasons would you give to those reluctant hosts or hostesses for why you love to entertain?
