In Honor of Sadie Hawkins... Host a Catch of the Day Dinner Party

Friday February 29, 2008
This day only rolls around once every four years and is better known as Leap Day. But there's a quaint tradition that on Sadie Hawkins day, February 29th, girls can chase after an unmarrried boy to propose marriage. In fact, some communities celebrate the fun of this old tradition with races and dances for unmarried boys and girls. Although women no longer need permission to propose to a man, I think it would be fun to celebrate the day, not with a race, but with a "Catch of the Day" seafood dinner party. You can even organize your own foot race before dinner in keeping with the Sadie Hawkins tradition! Although I've been married for many years, this menu will be perfect for those of us who observe Lent and would enjoy entertaining with a good seafood meal on a Lenten Friday.
