Which is why I rarely watch any of the crime shows such as CSI, and why I can't help this Forum reader with her party plan. Here's what she's looking for:
"My little sister is obsessed with CSI and I was thinking about having a CSI themed party for her. It will be in a tent in the back yard, and I would like to have food with the same goal in mind. She is going to be 23 but there will be children present. Any suggestions?"

It is a neat theme! You could decorate with crime tape and a body outline as people come into the party. You could print badges for the guests (also helps with knowing everyone at the party). Also, you could have an activity of solving a mystery (an easier one for the kids…theirs is more like a scavenger hunt). For example, hide a clue in the sofa, write something to be seen under blacklight, etc.
Another idea is having the cake look like a finger print. You could also have a bakery make theme cookies (look like a spy of a police badge, etc.)
For gifts, you could give bags that say “CSI KIT” and fill it with goodies.
You could have the guest of honor wear a black jacket with CSI written on the back (either in tape or written).
